Kasugai: Discovering the Hidden Beauty of a Japanese City
Nestled in the Aichi Prefecture of Japan, Kasugai is a charming city that seems worlds away from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. It’s a peaceful haven for those seeking solitude or an escape from the daily grind. As a National Geographic journalist, I recently had the pleasure of visiting Kasugai, and the experience was nothing short of amazing. Here’s an account of what I found.
Scenery of the City
The scenery of the city is breathtaking. The landscape is dominated by mountain ranges and parks, with manicured gardens and quiet neighborhoods throughout. One of my favorite spots was the Aisai Riverside Park, which boasts stunning views of the Kiso River. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a long day of exploring.
What I Liked Most
One of the things I liked most about Kasugai was its charming atmosphere. The city is home to several traditional shrines and temples, such as the Kasugai Shrine and the Matsuzaki Kannon Temple, which are steeped in history and culture. It’s like stepping back in time and getting a glimpse of the old Japan.
What I Disliked
However, the one thing I disliked about Kasugai was the language barrier. Not many locals speak English, so it can be a challenge to get around or order food. Google Translate did come in handy, though, and locals were always eager to help.
