Which country is happiest in Southeast Asia in 2026?

Finland has been ranked the world’s happiest country for the ninth consecutive year in the latest World Happiness Report 2026. The rankings, compiled by Gallup, the Oxford Wellbeing Research Centre, and the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, are based on residents’ own evaluations of their lives in 140 countries. Factors considered include GDP per capita, social support, life expectancy, perceived freedom, generosity, and levels of corruption. In Southeast Asia, Singapore ranked highest, followed by Vietnam and Thailand, with the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar also in the regional list.
