An unattended microwave is suspected to have caused a fire in Samut Prakan, prompting firefighters to evacuate residents from a five-storey apartment building in Mueang Samut Prakan district. Fire crews responded with nearly 10 fire engines and were able to extinguish the flames in about 30 minutes, with damage limited to one room. The fire started in a Thai family’s apartment where two sons were home alone. Investigators believe the microwave was left unattended while food was being heated, leading to the fire.
