A deep-sea submersible carrying five people to explore the wreck of the Titanic has been found in pieces after a “catastrophic implosion,” killing everyone on board. The submersible, operated by OceanGate Expeditions, lost contact with its support ship during a two-hour dive to the famous shipwreck. A debris field from the submersible was discovered on the seabed, located 1,600 feet from the bow of the Titanic in the North Atlantic. The five men on board included the CEO of OceanGate, a British billionaire, a Pakistani-born businessman, his son, and a French oceanographer. The search lasted for five days.
