Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) officers have arrested three treasure hunters and confiscated over 1,000 ancient items, some dating back over 1,600 years. The gang used metal detectors to search for buried artifacts at archaeological sites. The seized items include pottery, coins, seals, and decorative items that reveal the ancient trade route from southern China through Southeast Asia and India. Many of the confiscated antiques were being sold online at low prices, catching the attention of officials. The items were mostly bought by antique buyers who planned to resell them to collectors.
