Three officials from the Public Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office will face charges of negligence following a fatal accident during a fire drill at Rachawinit School. A fire extinguisher containing carbon dioxide for the demonstration burst, causing a student to be flung 10 meters and die at the scene. Forensic officers are examining the burst tank and other extinguishers to determine if they meet safety standards and who refilled them. The director of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office claims the extinguishers used in demonstrations are checked every five years and do not leak. The Bangkok Governor says precautionary measures must be taken to prevent a repeat.
