The Department of Disease Control in Thailand is concerned about the increase in monkeypox cases, particularly among young people. In August alone, 145 new cases were recorded, including a 16-year-old boy. From May to August, there were a total of 316 cases, with 271 being gay men and 143 of them also having HIV. Bangkok has the highest number of cases, followed by Chon Buri, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan. Only patients with serious symptoms are treated with medication provided by the World Health Organization. The DDC warns young people and gay men to practice safe sex and avoid close body contact with strangers.
