A plan to overhaul the visa system is currently being discussed by the government and tourism authorities. The changes aim to simplify and reduce the cost of the visa procedure to attract more visitors, particularly from China and India. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is considering streamlining the e-visa system and upgrading consular data. The Tourism Authority of Thailand has set a revenue target of 3 trillion baht from foreign visitors next year and hopes to include more countries in the list of visa-exempt countries. The revitalization of the tourism industry is expected once the new government takes office.
