A trade mark dispute involving the hashtag #Pangcha has caused a stir in Thailand. Popular store, Ice Monster, sued smaller retailers for using the name Pangcha, claiming it violated their trade mark and demanding 102 million baht in damages. Ice Monster’s founder, Kanchai, revealed that he was the first in Thailand to introduce finely shaved ice, acquiring the rights from the Philippines. However, Ice Monster also faced legal action from another establishment named Monster Ice Cream, resulting in Kanchai purchasing the rights to the word Monster and allowing everyone to use it. The Ice Monster franchise was known for its fine ice topped with fruits.
