Deputy government spokeswoman Rachada Dhnadirek announced that the second phase of the Thai-Chinese high-speed train project is expected to receive cabinet approval by the end of the year. The first phase of the project is set to begin operations in 2026. The second phase will connect Nakhon Ratchasima and Nong Khai, covering a distance of 356 kilometers and estimated to cost 300 billion baht. Construction is projected to start in 2024, with the aim of making the project operational by 2028. The Thai section of the railway will connect to Vientiane in Laos and Kunming in China.
