An oil spill at the SBM-2 of Thai Oil’s refinery in Sriracha, Chonburi province has been brought under control. The firm is currently assessing the impact of the spill and surveying the surrounding areas. The incident occurred during an oil transfer from a tanker moored at the SBM-2. No casualties have been reported and the volume of oil spilled has not been disclosed. Thai Oil has taken immediate action, including closing valves and deploying an oil boom and dispersant. Refinery operations were not affected and the costs will be covered by the firm’s insurance.
