Deputy police commissioners in Thailand will have to wait for the new prime minister to make the decision on their promotion to commissioner, according to outgoing PM Prayut Chan-o-cha. This decision is in line with good governance and the new PM, Srettha Thavisin, will have the authority to make the appointment. The current police commissioner is due to retire on September 30. Prayut chaired a meeting to consider the annual reshuffle for top police positions, but ordered the withdrawal of candidates for the top posts. Four deputy national police chiefs are in line for the top job.
