The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) is pleased with Thailand’s new government, as Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has pledged to lower energy costs and retail diesel prices. The FTI has been advocating for measures to alleviate the burden of high energy bills and diesel prices, which have significantly impacted living and manufacturing expenses. The FTI believes that reducing energy costs will lower living and manufacturing costs for small and medium-sized enterprises and increase competitiveness against countries like Vietnam. However, the FTI opposes raising the minimum wage due to the pandemic, sluggish global economy, and high interest rates.
