Police in Thailand’s Central Investigation Bureau, along with officials from the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), raided a shop house in Chiang Mai and uncovered 38 cryptocurrency mining machines and related equipment. The raid was prompted by suspicions that the property was stealing electricity, which was confirmed when the electricity meter was found tampered with and the readings were unusually low. A man named “Anucha” was taken into custody during the raid and admitted to tampering with the meter for a year. PEA officials estimate that around one million worth of electricity has been stolen.
