Energy prices in Thailand are set to be reduced following discussions between Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, outgoing Energy Minister Supattanapong Punmeechaow, and M.L. Chayotid Kridakorn. The plan is to use the Oil Fuel Fund and contributions from oil refineries to subsidize price cuts on diesel, cooking gas, and electricity. Various methods are being considered to reduce prices, including reducing excise tax on diesel, overhauling the structure of oil prices, and injecting more money into the Oil Fuel Fund for cooking gas. The government also aims to provide subsidies for households with lower electricity consumption and negotiate with Cambodia to resume natural gas exploration.
