Night entertainment operators in Phuket have proposed extending the closing time of venues on Patong Beach from 1am to 4am, claiming it would be more convenient for foreign tourists who often visit bars late at night. The proposal was submitted to Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin during a meeting with tourism representatives. Srettha promised to consider the request in his cabinet, which is currently being formed. Advocates for the change suggest implementing a trial period of six months during the high season to assess the impacts on security, society, the economy, and the environment.
