Thailand’s Fine Arts Department will be conducting regular surveys of Phra Prang Wat Arun, a popular landmark in Bangkok, after it was discovered that the main tower has started to lean. The movement of the main tower has caused the secondary prangs and mondop buildings to also lean slightly. The Fine Arts Department believes the movement may be due to previous subsidence. Regular surveys will be conducted every three months, with the possibility of extending to every six months if there is no further movement. The principal prang is a replica built in 1820, with construction completed in 1851.
