A 44-year-old Chinese woman named Jian Qi was arrested at Phuket International Airport for passport fraud. She attempted to bypass immigration control using a passport that did not belong to her. The crime could result in up to 10 years in prison and a fine of 200,000 baht under Thai law. Jian Qi arrived in Phuket from Shanghai and presented a passport belonging to someone else. The biometric control system revealed a 30% match between her face and the passport photo. She initially claimed to have undergone aesthetic surgeries but eventually admitted to using another person’s passport. Jian Qi has been charged under the Thai Criminal Code.
