A near-drowning incident involving five individuals on a speedboat off the coast of Maithon Island, Phuket, was averted by the quick response of local authorities. The boat was in danger of sinking due to water ingress, but it was successfully brought ashore with all passengers safe. The Third Naval Area Command and the Phuket Harbour Office conducted a rescue operation, pumping out water from the sinking boat and bringing the individuals ashore. The passengers, who were fishermen, were later brought to Chalong Pier for further questioning. An investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing.
