Mercenary Chief Prigozhin Is Presumed To Have Died In A Plane Crash Seen As The Kremlin’s Revenge

Yevgeny Prigozhin, the chief of the Russian mercenary group Wagner, is presumed dead after a plane crash that many believe was an assassination attempt. The private jet crashed soon after takeoff from Moscow with Prigozhin and several of his top lieutenants on board. The crash, if confirmed, would be a major blow to Wagner’s leadership. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation, but there are suggestions that the plane was deliberately downed. Prigozhin had recently led a mutiny against President Vladimir Putin, but a deal was made for amnesty and relocation to Belarus.
