Parenting a child with special needs, specifically autism, comes with unique challenges. Sopee Chaweewon, a mother of three, recalls her journey after her son, Alex, was diagnosed with autism and a learning disability. Determined to provide the support he needed, Sopee and her husband enrolled Alex in various therapies and activities to improve his communication and cognitive skills. Despite the difficulties, Alex excelled in art and writing, with his story gaining popularity on an online app. Sopee emphasizes the importance of embracing and supporting children with autism, instead of trying to “cure” them. She also advocates for increased rights and education opportunities for people with autism in Thailand.
