Karenni rebels managed to capture around 60 Myanmar troops, including a battalion commander, in recent clashes in Myanmar. They also claim to have seized eight bases of the Myanmar force. The Myanmar forces reportedly carried out air raids using MiG-29 fighters, resulting in civilian casualties and prompting many to seek refuge in Thailand. However, the rebels fought back using adapted drones originally intended for agricultural use. According to the Thai border command centre, nearly 4,876 Karenni civilians sought shelter in four shelters in Mae Sariang district by July 1st.
