Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and several ministers ate seafood from the sea off Fukushima Prefecture to dispel concerns about the impact of the discharged radioactive water on human health and fishery products. Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Yasutoshi Nishimura stated that Kishida ate sashimi consisting of sea bass, flounder, and octopus, alongside rice harvested in Fukushima. Japan began releasing treated water from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant into the Pacific Ocean, claiming that most radionuclides, except tritium, are removed. China imposed an import ban on Japanese fishery products in response. Kishida plans to unveil a rescue plan package for domestic fishers affected by the ban.
