India has successfully landed a spacecraft near the moon’s south pole, making it the first country to achieve this feat. The landing is significant as scientists believe the region may contain reserves of frozen water. The lander, carrying a rover, touched down on the lunar surface and will conduct experiments, including analyzing the mineral composition of the area. India’s previous attempt to land near the moon’s south pole in 2019 failed due to a software glitch. India now joins the United States, the Soviet Union, and China as the only countries to achieve a moon landing.
