A Thai HIV network and the Foundation for Action on Inclusion Rights (FAIR) submitted a petition to the Royal Thai Police to remove a rule preventing people living with HIV/AIDS from joining the police. The petition called for the removal of a clause in the Police Commission’s regulation that disqualifies individuals with AIDS/HIV from recruitment, citing discrimination and violation of human rights. The groups demanded the immediate removal of AIDS/HIV as a prohibited characteristic, revision of recruitment standards, and internal communication to reduce stigma. The Thai government also approved a plan to enhance medical accessibility for individuals with HIV/AIDS.
