Guangzhou Automobile Corporation (GAC) is planning to invest 6 billion baht in the construction of electric vehicle (EV) and battery factories in Thailand over the next few years. This investment will make Thailand a key production and export base for the company. GAC aims to cater to both domestic and overseas markets with the new factories and align with Thailand’s goal of becoming a regional hub for EVs. The company plans to build eco-friendly production facilities to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. GAC’s subsidiary, Aion, aims to become one of the top three EV brands in Thailand. The company sold 250,000 units in China in the first seven months of 2023. Sharich Holding Co, a dealer for Aion, plans to establish 12 to 15 GAC showrooms.
