In a recent report, the UN’s Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar (IIMM) has revealed compelling evidence of ongoing war crimes in the country. The IIMM described the actions of the Myanmar military and its associates as increasingly brazen and frequent, pointing to airstrikes, bombings, and executions of combatants and civilians. The report specifically highlighted the April airstrikes in the Sagaing region. Drawing from over 200 witness testimonies, photographs, videos, and documents, the IIMM has presented its findings to the International Criminal Court for ongoing investigations, particularly those relating to the Rohingya people. Myanmar’s military-led government has not yet commented on the matter.
