The Deep South region of Thailand has extended its emergency decree against the insurgency for the 73rd time. The decree aims to protect citizens from the long-standing insurgency in the three southern border provinces of Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. The emergency decree will be in effect from September 20 to December 19 of this year. Some districts within the three provinces remain unaffected by the decree. The decision to extend the decree was made during a video conference led by Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon. The resolution will be presented to the National Security Council and the cabinet for endorsement.
