An 82-year-old monk in Thailand’s Buriram temple was deceived by a conman pretending to be a monk, resulting in the theft of 180,000 baht ($5,051) from the temple. The imposter distracted the resident monk by discussing security cameras and a faulty air conditioner before asking for a white envelope to make a donation, during which the money went missing. The incident has prompted calls for police to track down the culprit. The resident monk advises other monks, especially the elderly, to have their surroundings watched over due to various forms of deceit practiced by criminals.
