The Don Mueang International Airport in Thailand has had multiple incidents involving passengers or their belongings being pulled into escalator mechanisms. In July 2019, a passenger’s shoe was damaged when it was pulled into the escalator. Despite reporting the incident, it took the airport a month to take any action. In September 2019, the airport announced that they had overhauled their escalators and implemented daily inspections. However, a recent accident in June 2021 left a female passenger severely injured, prompting the closure of all escalators and moving walkways for maintenance and investigation. The airport director confirmed that the escalators had been properly maintained and inspected.
