BANGKOK — Chinese authorities requested the arrest of a Chinese couple, identified as Shang and Wang, who were wanted for operating a large-scale fraud scheme in their home country. The couple was apprehended at a hotel in Pattaya by Thai immigration police. The scheme involved scamming over 1,500 individuals out of 300 million yuan (approximately 1.5 billion baht) through a ponzi scheme promising high returns on investments. In a related incident, another Chinese national, Min, was also arrested for allegedly concealing assets gained from an online gambling website. Her husband is believed to have fled to Singapore.
