The event occurred at a residence in Wang Sai Thong village of Wang Pong district, startling both the homeowners and the local police. The snake was identified as a spitting cobra, measuring about one and a half metres. The owner of the house, Buaket Chuehong, noticed her cat, Jao Gwak, acting unusual near the wardrobe, pawing at something and making eerie hissing noises. After the snake spat venom on the cat, blinding it, a neighbor quickly applied a traditional remedy to improve its condition. The incident sparked a lottery frenzy as people sought Buaket’s house number and age as lucky numbers.
