The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has announced that nearly 10,000 fire safety units in Bangkok are in urgent need of replacement. This comes after a fatal incident at Rajavinit Mathayom School where a student died and 10 others were injured due to an exploding fire extinguisher during an emergency procedure. To bolster public and fire safety, inspections led by deputy governor Tavida Kamolvej have reached a 60% completion rate, revealing 9,779 fire extinguisher units that require immediate replacement. The cost of these replacements is estimated at 16.5 million baht. Each replaced tank will be equipped with a QR code for better fire safety management. The BMA also plans to allocate a budget for 30,000 new fire extinguishers to renovate existing ones by next year.
