Every year, hundreds of doctors in Thailand leave the government sector due to heavy workloads, low pay, and limited opportunities for advancement. Over the past decade, an average of 450 doctors have left annually, while at least 150 have retired from public service. Recent reports have highlighted the harsh working conditions that have compelled medical professionals to resign, including long shifts, excessive workloads, and a lack of support from seniors. The Public Health Ministry has acknowledged the issue and plans to address it by offering higher pay, better welfare, career advancement prospects, and a more reasonable workload.
