About 1,000 households in three communities in Bangkok have complained to the Thailand Consumer’s Council about the construction of three high-rise condominium projects, which they argue may also be illegal. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the council will inspect the sites as part of an investigation. Some complainants claim that the projects violate building control laws, as the lanes leading to the sites are narrower than required. Saree Aongsomwang, secretary-general of the council, said that lax law enforcement and abuse of authority by officials has allowed such projects to negatively impact surrounding communities.
