YouTube is conducting a global experiment to combat ad blockers by asking users to either disable their ad-blocking extensions or purchase a premium subscription after watching three videos. The streaming service displays a warning sign to users who have ad blockers enabled, stating that video playback will be blocked if the ad blocker is not disabled or YouTube is not whitelisted. Google has also mentioned that in extreme cases, it may temporarily disable playback for users who do not allow YouTube on their ad blockers. This is not the first time YouTube has experimented with pushing users towards premium subscriptions.
