WhatsApp has released an update that allows iPhone and Android users to send high-resolution photos on the messaging platform, addressing the previous limitation of low-quality image sharing. The update adds an “HD” button on the photo sharing screen, giving users the option to switch to HD quality photos. Recipients will see a label indicating they have received a higher quality version, and all high-resolution images are protected by end-to-end encryption. The rollout of this feature will happen globally over the next few weeks, with high-resolution video sharing set to follow soon.
