On Thursday, reports emerged about a Reddit post that claimed Steam would no longer publish games featuring AI-generated content. Another game developer later echoed this sentiment. However, Valve, the company behind Steam, has clarified that its goal is not to discourage the use of AI but rather to integrate it into their existing review policies. Valve’s review process already takes into account copyright law and developers are not allowed to infringe on existing copyrights. The company has also offered to refund app-submission credits for developers whose games were rejected due to AI copyright issues as they refine their review process.
