The funding will be distributed among states, with Texas receiving the most at $3.31 billion. California, Missouri, Michigan, and North Carolina are among the top recipients. The plan aims to overcome the lack of broadband coverage highlighted by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Biden emphasized that internet access is now an essential utility. The administration is also working with internet service providers to offer affordable services. The investment marks the largest effort by the Biden administration to expand broadband access.
