Caregivers overseeing TikTok accounts of users under the age of 18 now have access to expanded content filtering tools to protect teens. The new tools allow caregivers to limit the types of videos that appear on a user’s feed using selected keywords. These settings were launched in response to concerns about the impact of social media on childhood well-being and the burden placed on caregivers. TikTok also announced the formation of a global Youth Council, which will provide a forum for teens to share their experiences and provide feedback for the app. The company is joining other social media platforms in implementing parental control measures.
