ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, has launched a new app called Ripple in the US. Designed for creators, Ripple helps users compose and edit music for their content, making it easier to add custom soundtracks to short-form videos on platforms like TikTok. The app generates instrumentals, such as drums, bass, and piano, based on the melody users hum into their phone’s microphone. However, Ripple can only create instrumental music and leaves vocal work to the creators. ByteDance claims that the app respects copyright and privacy rights, as it is trained on licensed and owned music. Ripple is currently available through an invite-only closed beta.
