The AI Act categorizes various applications based on the level of risk and imposes prohibitions and restrictions accordingly. While the initial proposal focused on concrete tools, the rapid development of AI technologies like generative AI has complicated the regulatory process. The AI Act is currently undergoing inter-institutional negotiations and is expected to come into force in the next two to five years.
