Stitcher, a popular podcast app, will be shutting down in August after over 15 years in operation. The podcast platform, which was founded in 2008, had been acquired by various companies before being bought by SiriusXM in 2020. SiriusXM plans to incorporate podcasts into its subscription business, leading to the closure of Stitcher. The Stitcher Premium service, offering ad-free episodes and exclusive content, will also be discontinued. However, Stitcher Studios and Earwolf networks will continue to produce shows for SiriusXM. The brand name is expected to live on in these podcast production companies.
