Sega Sammy has officially acquired Angry Birds developer Rovio for $776 million, hoping to strengthen its presence in the mobile gaming industry. While Angry Birds remains a popular franchise, Rovio also brings other IPs such as Sugar Blast and Small Town Murders, as well as a complete infrastructure for developing and advertising mobile games. With this purchase, Sega can now develop mobile titles based on its own IPs like Sonic and Persona. Additionally, there are numerous older games that can be ported to mobile. Despite the decline in popularity, Angry Birds will likely continue to see new mobile game releases. Meta Data: {“keywords”:”Sega Sammy, Rovio, mobile gaming”}
