The Russian space agency has shared the first images from its Luna-25 spacecraft, marking its first mission to the moon since 1976. The photos show that the spacecraft is in good shape and working as planned, according to the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. India’s Chandrayaan-3 craft also recently captured footage of the lunar surface as part of its mission to land at the south pole. Both countries are interested in exploring the moon’s south pole and its potential ice resources. The Luna-25 mission is expected to last a year, while India’s Chandrayaan-3 is set to touch down on the moon’s surface around August 23.
