Electric truck maker Nikola saw a significant drop in its shares after recalling nearly all of its battery electric semi trucks. The recall of 209 Class 8 Tre battery electric vehicles comes after a third-party investigation revealed a coolant leak as the likely cause of a battery fire in one of the trucks. Nikola has temporarily halted new BEV sales until a resolution is found. This setback follows the departure of its CEO and president, disappointing earnings, and ongoing scandals surrounding the company’s founder. The recall does not affect the hydrogen fuel cell EVs currently in production.
