A developer, Alessandro Paluzzi, discovered that Meta’s Twitter clone, Thread, was briefly available on the Google Play store. Paluzzi shared screenshots of the app’s interface, which showcased features like logging in with Instagram accounts and a list of followed accounts. The leaked app resembles Twitter with character count indicators, attachment options, and familiar icons for engaging with posts. The app has been in development under the name “Project 92” and seeks to provide a more well-managed platform for creators and public figures. This leak led to a challenge between Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter CEO Elon Musk. The official release date for Threads is yet to be announced.
