With the upcoming macOS Sonoma update, Apple is simplifying the process of reviving or restoring a Mac stuck in DFU mode. The new software allows users to initiate a Mac-to-Mac restoration process directly from the Finder app, eliminating the need for Apple Configurator. Both Macs will still need to be connected via a USB-C cable, and both machines must have macOS Sonoma installed. DFU mode can occur after a power failure during a macOS update, and a second Mac is typically required to restore the affected Mac. macOS Sonoma is currently in beta testing and expected to launch in a month or two.
