Humane, the company founded by former Apple employees, has announced its first gadget, the Humane Ai Pin. The device will be powered by an advanced Snapdragon platform in partnership with Qualcomm and is set to be released later this year. However, Humane has remained secretive about the specifics of the Ai Pin, including its functionality and appearance. In a previous demonstration, co-founder Imran Chaudhri showcased the device as a voice assistant, a means for making phone calls, and as a tool for receiving automated summaries and obtaining information through images. The name suggests that the device can be pinned to clothing, implying a wearable nature. Not many details have been revealed apart from its use of AI and a range of sensors for contextual and ambient interactions. The future release will hopefully shed more light on its functionality, cloud connectivity, pricing, and how it compares to traditional phone screens. Despite the lack of information, the Ai Pin presents an intriguing exploration of a new form factor and a different approach to human-technology interaction.
