Index Ventures, a global investor, has partnered with Oracle to provide graphics processing units (GPUs) to its early-stage AI startup portfolio companies. The partnership aims to address the challenge of limited access to compute power, particularly GPUs, which are in high demand by big players in the AI industry. Index Ventures will make pre-commitments on behalf of its startups and pay for the cloud service, while Oracle manages the GPU cluster. The goal is to remove the barrier of access to GPUs, allowing the startups to focus on building their products. The partnership is not exclusive, and other venture firms could potentially replicate this model.
